Welcome to Kingsland Elementary School!
Thank you to the entire Kingsland community for making me feel so welcome as I begin my first year as Principal at Kingsland Elementary School. The outpouring of visitors, well-wishers, and support throughout the school community has been incredibly humbling, and I am grateful to be joining such a positive community!
The 2017-2018 school year will be one of new beginnings and exciting opportunities for our students at Kingsland Elementary. Kingsland Elementary School will now be home to all students in grades prekindergarten through six, which will allow for greater teacher collaboration and more efficient use of our time and resources as we work together to continue building a tradition of excellence at Kinsland Public Schools. We will also be implementing a new K-6 reading program called Action 100 designed to provide targeted interventions and build strong independent reading habits in all learners.
While I am excited to be part the new adventures at Kingsland, I am also appreciative of the many great opportunities already in place for our students. Students have access to technology, including 1-to-1 iPads in grades 2-6, and teachers utilize technology when appropriate to provide engaging, hands-on lessons and educational activities. We also continue to offer Project Lead the Way (PLTW) to all students in grades K-6. This national science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) program provides our students with opportunities for inquiry and hands-on learning in STEM education to prepare them for 21st Century careers. Please feel encouraged to visit any time and check out the great things happening at Kingsland Elementary School!
